Obituary

GATES, Frederick Kenneth - 60yrs, of Wilmot, NS passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 26, 2013 in Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Middleton, he was a son of the late Willoughby and Alice (Crocker) Gates. Fred was retired from the Department of Transportation, Middleton. He had a passion for country music and loved to play his guitar and mouth organ. Fred enjoyed teaching others to play the guitar and loved to tell a good joke. In his younger years, he enjoyed going fishing with his older brother Merrill and was a very kind and caring person. He is survived by his sisters, Margie Parks, Kingston; Arlene (Fred) McKay, Aylesford; Janet Gates, Kentville and Penny Gates (Larry McKay) Aylesford; brother, Carl Gates (Susan Milbury),Wilmot and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sisters, Mary and Ruth and brother, Merrill. By Fred's request, cremation has taken place. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date in the Wiswall Cemetery, Wilmot. Donations in memory may be made to the Kidney Foundation or Heart & Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
