ROCH, Frederick William Ernest – 81, of Nictaux, NS passed away Monday, April 6, 2026 in Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Ossieg, Yugoslavia, he was the son of Hans and Greta (Libisch) Roch. Surviving is his loving wife of 55 years, Anna (Smodlibowska); his children, Jason Roch, Nictaux; Saskia Roch, Halifax; Lucas Roch, Nictaux; sister, Heidi Walsh, Albany, New York; granddaughters, Willow and Violet, and their mother, Kathleen Delong, Nictaux; nieces Valerie Walsh, Northern California; Monica Whaley, Portland, Maine; nephews, Robert Walsh, Boston; Brendan Walsh, California; great niece and nephews, Gus, Heidi, and Harry. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his nephew, Andrew and brother-in-law Robert Walsh.Fred was educated in Montreal, Quebec, and earned his BA degree in English Literature at Concordia University. Following this, he earned his Swine Technician Breeding Certificate, in Triesdorf, Germany. Fred was General Manager for ElectroPhysical Instruments in Montreal, Quebec. He then became the Owner/Operator of Oakhurst Farms, Nictaux, NS: 800 acres under cultivation, 2,500 farrow to finish swine operation.Fred was an uncompromising human being. Outdoorsman, craftsman, fountain of knowledge for his family through the years.Loved and missed now and always… my beloved Spider, I carry you in my heart to eternity and beyond, your Mouse, Anna.A Memorial Mass will be announced and held in mid-summer.
