LOWE, Garfield Leroy - 72, of Nictaux, NS passed away Tuesday, December 4, 2012 in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Springfield, NS he was a son of the late Archie and Lettie (Gates) Lowe. Garfield was a truck driver for many years and was the franchised owner of Needs Nictaux for several years. He also worked for the Department of Transportation as a snowplow operator, was a dispatcher for Hogg's Trucking, Wilmot and most recently worked for Carquest, Nictaux doing parts delivery. Garfield loved curling and was a member of the Middleton Curling Club and enjoyed baseball watching his favorite team the Toronto Blue Jays. He was a past member of the Nictaux & District Fire Department and the Middleton Lions Club for many years and was past president. He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, the former Audrey Carter; daughter, Tracy (Gary) Bates, Nictaux; son, Paul Lowe (Mickey Bethune), Trenton; sister, Betty Charlton, Abbotsford, BC; granddaughter Morgan; many nieces and nephews. He will be missed by his devoted and loving valley bulldog "Jada". Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sister, Shirley Cress as well as a sister in infancy and brothers, Howard and Willis. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 2:00PM Saturday, December 8, 2012 in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., (902) 825-3448 with Rev. Bill McLeod officiating. A reception for family and friends will follow the service. Interment will be in the Nictaux Cemetery. By request, family flowers only.
