MOSHER, George Shirley – age 95 passed away Friday, September 8th 2017 in the Veteran's Unit at Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Nictaux, March 28, 1922, he was a son of the late Charles and Julia (Conant) Mosher. George graduated from Middleton Macdonald High School and completed a business course at Horton Academy of Acadia University. He joined the air force in 1941 and spent four years in various parts of Canada, Newfoundland and Labrador. George later joined his father and brother in the family business of Mosher's Hardware Store Ltd., for the next 37 years. George was an avid sportsman in hockey, golf and curling and was a member of the Middleton Curling Club serving as president in 1967. He was a competitor in many Provincial Bonspiels and on the Middleton Curling Club Team when they were the winners of the Nova Scotia Masters Championship in 1993 and also in 1994 when they were the winners of the Maritime Masters Championship. George was a member of the Paragon Golf Club in Kingston and Eden Golf Club in Paradise as well as an active member of the Middleton Baptist Church. He was interested in travel and visited many parts of the world, including Europe nine times, also Greece, Hawaii, Africa and the Caribbean Islands. George and his wife spent time in Florida each winter from 1978-2008. He also enjoyed spending time in his woodlot with his son Peter and at Zwickers Lake at their cottage where he spent many hours towing water skiers. George was a loving and devoted husband and father. He is survived by his wife, the former Ethelyn (McMaster) whom he married in September 1948. Daughters, Judith Lynn (Ken) Mahar, Roundhill , Constance (Tim) d'Entremont, Rockville Notch, Georg-Ann (Gordon) Delaney, Brow Mountain Road, Centreville; and son, Peter McMaster Mosher, Coldbrook; nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother, Gerald and sister, Thelma Boutilier. Visitation will be held from 7 – 9 pm, Wednesday, September 13th in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., 902 825-3448. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, September 14th in the Middleton Baptist Church, with Rev. Danny Smith officiating. A reception for family and friends will follow the service. Interment will be in the North Kingston Cemetery. Donations in George's memory can be made to the Middleton Baptist Church or a charity of choice.
