George Henderson Thomson - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our husband and father George, who died on April 16 ^th at the Halifax Infirmary (QEII). Born in Toronto, Ontario, he was the son of the late George Silver Thomson and Christina Young Thomson (nee Henderson). George is survived by his wife of 63 years, Sheila (nee Harnish); children, Vikki (Mike) Chiasson, Lynn Lawrence and son, George (Monica); sisters, Joyce Klingender of St Catherine's Ontario and Christina McMullin of Brighton, Ontario; grandchildren, Molly, Christy, Kersten, Isaac, Zackery and Zoe. Besides his parents, George was predeceased by daughter, Kimberley Anne; sisters, Audrey Bauer, Norma Roper, Margaret Kalogeropoulos and son-in- law, David Lawrence. He was a proud veteran of the Royal Canadian Navy and an active Freemason and Shriner. He and Sheila enjoyed many years of camping with friends and traveling across Canada and the US. He loved horses and spent many happy hours in the saddle riding the roads and trails around his farm. The biggest love of his life was his family, gathering often with his children and grandchildren and many family reunions with his sisters and their families. The family would like to thank staff at the Halifax Infirmary (QEII). Particularly, Dr. Min Lee, vascular residents, the nurses of 4.1, support staff and CCA 'Peter' for the extra special care both they and George received. A memorial service will be held at the Middleton Funeral Home 398 Main St., Middleton, NS toll free 1-855-825-3448 Friday April 23, 2021 at 2 pm. Due to COVID restrictions limiting attendance, the funeral will be by invitation only. The service may be viewed by choosing the 'Live Stream' option on the funeral home's website beginning at 1:50 p.m. ADT.
