Obituary

TRAVIS, George Vincent - age 73, Waterville, Kings Co., passed away Sunday, January 4, 2015, in Kings Regional Rehabilitation Centre, Waterville. Born in Berwick, he was a son of the late Harry and Elizabeth "Lizzie" (Richings) Travis. George had been a farm labourer all of his life, mostly picking apples and various locations. He was a former member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Ortona Branch No. 69, Berwick, where he had belonged to the dart league. George enjoyed music and watching John Wayne movies. Surviving are sister, Marilyn (Donald) Helpard, Waterville; brothers, Glanville (Edith) Travis, Canning; Eric "Bo" (Brenda MacNichol) Travis, Bear River; several nieces and nephews; former wife, Mary (Clattenburg) Daurie Travis; step-children, Loretta, Gordie, Michael and their families. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sisters, Phyllis (Al) Hagerty; Linda (Ronald) Parker; brother, Gary Travis. There will be no visitation. Funeral service will take place at 2 p.m., Wednesday, January 7, in the Berwick Baptist Church, 265 Commercial St., Berwick. Rev. Marilyn Rose officiating, with burial in the Berwick Cemetery. Donations in George's memory may be made to the Apple Tree Foundation, c/o Kings Regional Rehabilitation Centre.
