Gerald Joseph Alec Bergeron

It is with heavy hearts that the family announce the passing of Gerald “Gerry” Bergeron, age 66. He went peacefully in his sleep at his apartment in Greenwood, Nova Scotia on May 21, 2026. Born in St. Claude, Manitoba, Gerald was the first child of the late George and Odile (nee LeRoux) Bergeron. He was predeceased by his loving partner of 14 years Eva Purkard, and brother-in-law Gary Jakeman. Gerald lived most of his childhood years in the St. Francois, Headingly area on Lido Plage Road, near Winnipeg. He worked with his dad for a number of years in construction. He worked for Mac Don Industries for 16 years, Northern Meats, R&M Plumbing, Forever Green Landscaping, and a variety of other jobs. Gerald moved from Winnipeg to Nova Scotia, to be close to his sister, Gisele, in 2008. He worked as groundskeeper at the Best Western Aurora Inn for a time. He spent his best years with partner Eva Purkard (“Babe”), and both enjoyed the outdoors, and their St. Laurent vacation property by the lake. Gerald loved his pets, especially his dog, Chuckie. Although he enjoyed some good times in Nova Scotia, Winnipeg was always his home. He will be greatly missed by sisters, Gisele Paul (Ted), and Suzanne Jakeman, and brothers, Lionel Bergeron (Veronica), and Marcel Bergeron (Jacqueline), as well as nephews Paul and Daniel, and niece Rachelle and their families. At his request, Gerald was cremated, and there will be no service in Nova Scotia but a memorial gathering in Winnipeg on Saturday, June 20 at 2:00 p.m. Address 1010 Sinclair St. near Garden City Shopping Center. A private family interment will take place at a later time in Haywood Cemetery, Manitoba. Thank you to Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, 1-855-825-3448 in Nova Scotia for their helpful care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Manitoba Lung Association. Online guestbook may be signed by visiting: www.middletonfuneralhome.com
