Gerald Daniel
Francis Galway
April 8, 1948 – April 29, 2010
GALWAY, Gerald Daniel Francis Jerry- 62 of Greenwood, passed away Thursday, April 29, 2010 after a courageous four year battle with cancer. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late William and Dorothy Galway. With heavy hearts and lots of tears we say goodbye to a devoted husband, loving father and caring grandfather. On April 11 he celebrated 35 years of marriage to his best friend and love of his life Kathleen Kay Galway. Together they raised five children, instilling in each the importance of love and family through the love they shared with each other. After 40 years as a Flight Engineer; proudly serving with the Canadian Air Force Jerry retired his wings and assumed his rightful place as GrandDad. Jerry enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, often recalling stories of flying, always ready with a joke or an understanding voice whenever it was needed. Though he missed flying: never has there been a more proud grandfather; one who shared a special bond with each of his grandkids. Jerry thought of himself as an incredibly lucky man, he got to do a job he loved, spend his life with the woman he loved, have five wonderful children, and four beautiful grandchildren. Never a selfish man he enriched the lives of all who knew him, he will be missed more than he will ever know, and now an old Engineer will get his wings back. Jerry is survived by his wife, Kathleen Kay (Dugas); sons, Gerald Jerry & Melanie Galway, Stellarton; Christopher & Sophia Galway, Greenwood; Norman & Nicole Brown-Galway, Esquimalt, BC and Daniel Galway, Greenwood; daughter, Vera-Mae& Shaun Robertson, Trenton, ON. His baby dog, Molly, who never left his side and gave him so much love. Grandchildren, Ryan Daniel Galway; Dylan Gerald Galway; Mya Ellen Robertson and Abagail Phyllis Galway. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Robert and David. Visitation will be held 7:00 to 9:00PM, Tuesday, May 4, 2010 in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, (902) 825-3448. The Funeral Service will be held 2:00PM, Wednesday, May 5, 2010 in the Queen of Heaven Chapel, 14 Wing Greenwood, Father Tim Nelligan officiating with cremation to follow the service.
