MOORE, Gerald Ivan - age 63, of Freeport, NS passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 9, 2015 at home. Born in Freeport, he was a son of Janet (Prime) Moore and the late Ivan Gerald Moore. Gerald retired after 36 ½ years as a Mate on the Long & Brier Islands ferries. He was a member of the Freeport Fire Department having joined in 1971 and had served as fire chief for 25 years. Gerald was a member of the Freeport Baptist Church. He loved his family dearly, especially all his grandchildren. He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years the former Mary Thompson, Freeport; his daughter, Kristy (TeeJay) Wiles, Upper Clements; his son, Brian (Lorraine) Moore, Central Grove; his brothers, Clifton (Linda) Moore, Westport; Glendon (Heather) Moore and Alan (Joyce) Moore, both of Freeport; his grandchildren, Jesse Burns, Sawyer Burns, Griffin Moore, Daniel Moore, Emily Doucette and Gracie Potter. He was predeceased by his father Ivan Moore. In keeping with Gerald's wishes, cremation has taken place. A graveside service will be held at a later date in the Brookside Cemetery, Freeport.
