On March 3, 2014 Geraldine E. Simpson of Wilmot, Annapolis County was taken into the presence of our Lord by her special angels to spend eternity with all the Saints who have gone before her. She will be sadly missed by her husband, Lester of 47 years, daughters, Wendy (William "Bill") Dahr, Jeannie (Dave) Jack; granddaughters, Shalene (Ryan Burns) Dahr, Sasha Dahr, Kristan Jack and Sara Jack. Sisters, Leona Acker, New Minas and Audrey (Kenney) Banks, Wilmot; brothers, Roderick (Elaine) Acker, North River and Lawrence (Merlyn) Acker, her parents, Ray and Rosena Acker and brother, Larry Acker. Geraldine graduated from Nova Scotia Teachers College in 1989 with the "Level Four Accreditation Certificate in Child Development Services". One of Geraldine's greatest joys was working with children and youth. After working in several day-cares and preschools she started up her own home day-care and preschool working with children right up to her illness. In her spare time she gave many years to her Church being involved with the Church ministries, mostly the children ministries. She also was a leader for Guides and Brownies children programs over the years. I am sure anyone who has ever known Gerry did see and feel the love she had for people, especially that motherly love she shared with so many precious children. Gerry always said that one of the greatest hopes one can have is in our Lord Jesus Christ whom she received as her Lord and Savior many years ago. Her most encouraging scripture was Philippians 4:13 - NIV - "I can do everything through him who gives me strength". A special thank you to the VON, Palliative Care and Continuing Care, and all others who were involved with the family who allowed Geraldine to be in the comfort of her own home through her sickness. Visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9PM Thursday, March 6, 2014 in Middleton Funeral Home 398 Main Street, (902) 825-3448 where the funeral service will be held 11:00AM Friday, March 7, 2014 with Rev. Leon Langille officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Lawrencetown. Donations in memory may be made the Canadian Cancer Society.
