Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our mother, Ghyslaine Roy (Boivin) February 28, 2026, at Valley Regional Hospital. In her final moments she was surrounded by the love of her family. She could feel and hear the voices of those closest to her, each expressing in their own way how deeply she was loved and what she meant to them. Surrounded by such profound love, she left this world, comforted, peaceful, and at rest.
We are incredibly proud of the career in Real Estate our mom built for herself. She had a work ethic like no other and was at the top of the real estate world for many years. She treated her clients like family. Took pride in her work, enjoyed mentoring others, and treasured the lasting relationships she built along the way.
Above all, her greatest joy in her life was being Mom, Grandma, Gma and Mema, roles she cherished and filled with love, patience, and pride.
We will keep her butter-tart tradition alive in our kitchens, passing down not just the recipe and the very specific instructions but the memories that came with them. Mom was full of life, love and laughter. She never missed the chance to pull a good prank - especially if she was the mastermind behind it.
She was a safe haven to all who loved her. Nothing brought her greater happiness than her house overflowing with the laughter of her girls and grandchildren together.
She is survived by us, her three girls: Josée Morse (Jeff ), Annie McKinnon, Tracey Roy (Craig); her grandchildren, Sarah (Ryan) and Connor (Mel), Elysia (Jon), Graham (Robyn), Kaylie (Chase), Hannah, Jaedon (Grace) and Lydia; her great granddaughters: Isabella and Mollie.
Mom is also survived by her brothers Andre and Normand.
Mom was predeceased by her parents Placide and Thérèse; her stepfather Paul; her brother Michel and her son-in-law Michael. Mom was also missing her four-legged friend Sofie, who left footprints on her heart.
While mom was never blessed with a sister she found one in her best friend of almost 50 years, Elizabeth McInnis. We cannot count the number of card games they have played together over the years, but would both say each had the most wins. We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to Liz whose unwavering love and friendship meant the world to mom. Especially in these past few years as mom's health declined, Liz was a constant source of comfort, care and companionship. Her devotion and kindness brought mom great peace and joy, and our family will forever be grateful.
There will be an informal reception for mom on Wednesday, March 4th from 2-4 pm at the Middleton Funeral Home. Please join us for some memories, laughter and maybe a few tears - please wear something colourful as we honour her in a way that feels joyful and true to her nature. Homelessness in our local area weighed heavily on mom's heart. She quietly and consistently donated food, clothing and money to support those facing hardship. In lieu of flowers, we ask you make a donation to Open Arms in Kentville in her memory.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, toll free 1-855-825-3448. Online condolences or memories you may wish to share may be made by visiting: www.middletonfuneralhome.com
