LODGE, Gilbert Harvey "Gil" ~ Age 90, of Greenwood, Kings Co., passed away on Monday, June 1, 2020, in the Veteran's Unit of Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born on June 17, 1929, in Port Union, Newfoundland, he was a son of the late Mark and Sarah (Russell) Lodge. Comrade Gil joined the Army, RCASC (Special Force) 54 th , Coy in August 1950 at St. Johns, Nfld. He was based at Camp Borden, Fort Lewis, Washington, USA and in the Korean War (1951-52). Gilbert was discharged in 1952, and re-enlisted in the RCAF as an Aero Engine Tech, and again was stationed at Borden, Trenton, Portage La Prairie, # 4, Fighter Wing and lastly to Greenwood, where he retired in 1981. He was a member of Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 98, Kingston. Gil enjoyed woodworking and time spent in his workshop. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Surviving are son, Kerry Lodge, Kitchener, Ont.; daughter, Cindy (Greg) Little, North Kingston; stepson, Jim Zeigler, Harmony; stepdaughters, Tracy (Dan) Forbes, Alberta; Kara (Jeff Bickle) Zeigler, Morden; grandchildren, Kyle, Tyler, Taylor, Hayleigh, Jeffery, and Eric; great granddaughter, Amaya; sister-in-law, June Lodge, Port Union, Nfld; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, the former Audrey W. Pope; second wife, the former, Marilyn J. Zeigler; grandson, Matthew; brothers, Harold, Donald, Jack and Hayward Lodge; sisters, Nellie Muise, Mabel Lodge, Margaret Blackmore and Mildred Boudridge. A private graveside service will take place in North Kingston Cemetery, with Rev. Dr. Christine Marie Gladu officiating. Donations in his memory may be made to Diabetes Canada or to Veteran's Unit of Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, Middleton.
