Obituary

ACKER, Gloria Barbara-73 of Greenwood, passed away Friday, October 22, 2010 in Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Windsor, she was a daughter of the late Lyle and Kathleen (Sanford) Pico. Gloria spent her early childhood in Windsor, NS eventually moving to Middleton to work with MT&T. Later she opened the Middleton Flower Shop and became a well known florist in the area. She played on one of the first ladies hockey teams and loved to curl; she also was an avid gardener and enjoyed baking. Gloria loved to socialize, had a kind heart, but most of all loved her family dearly. She is survived by her daughter, Dawn Marie Parker (Peggy McClary), Port George; sons, Sam Parker (Sue Lowe), Union Corner, Hants Co.; Jerry (Nancy) Parker, Nictaux; sister, Deanna Burrows, Louisiana, USA; brother, Gary (Debbie) Pico, Chester; grandchildren, Nathan, Tyler, Darcey, Terry, Venessa and Tiffany. Several great grandchildren as well as special friend, Mona Moore. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by son, Terry Parker. Visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9PM, Sunday, October 24, 2010 in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, (902) 825-3448, where the funeral service will be held 2:00PM, Monday, October 25, 2010 with Rev. Bill McLeod officiating. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Middleton.
