SWEENEY, Gloria Geraldine ~ Age 85, of Coldbrook, formerly of Berwick, Kings Co., passed away on Sunday, September 11, 2022, in Valley Hospice, Kentville. Born on December 5, 1936, in South Berwick, She was a daughter of the late George E. and Ida P. (Taylor) Wambolt. Gloria in younger years had taken a secretarial course and while living in Halifax, she had been employed at Ganong Chocolate. Gloria had worked as a cook a Seyforth's Rest Home in Berwick, and as a lover of children, would babysit as many as 10 at any given time. She had been an associate member of Royal Canadian Legion, Ortona Branch No. 69, Berwick. Gloria loved to spend time sewing, knitting, and playing darts. She loved her candy, trips to the shore and attending many yard sales. Gloria loved her dogs and many cats that she cared for over the years. Surviving are her children, Rhonda (Alden) Cox, Berwick; Curtis "Curt" Sweeney, Lawrencetown; Karan Moody (LeRoy Neilson), Coldbrook; Bartley "Buck" Sweeney (Valerie Wood), Edmonton, Alta; Coleen (Paul) Martin, South Berwick; Kimberley "Kim" Sweeney (Paul Atwell), Berwick; Shane (Margaret) Sweeney, South Alton; Aaron (Jean) Sweeney, Kingston; grandchildren, Glori-Ann, Jael, Kristina, Joey, Misty, Joel, Bradley, Temika, Vanessa, Ashley, Courtney, Kyla, Emily, Gavin, Genevieve, Dawson and Isaiah; 26 great grandchildren; sister, Beverley (the late Gerald) Steadman, Berwick; chosen brother, Wayne Wambolt, Milford; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved husband, Ronald F. Sweeney. Visitation will take place from 7-9 p.m., Wednesday evening in Christ Anglican Church Hall, 238 Commercial St., Berwick. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Thursday, September 15, in Christ Anglican Church, Berwick. Rev. Mel Malton officiating, with interment in Berwick Cemetery. Family flowers only, donations in her memory may be made to Canadian Cancer Society or Valley Hospice Foundation. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the doctors and nursing staff at the Valley Hospice for the care and compassion shown to Gloria and the family.
