CHUTE, Gordon Clair ~ Age 83, of East Margaretsville, Annapolis Co., N.S., peacefully passed away on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville surrounded by family. Born on April 3, 1942, in Phinneys Cove, he was a son of the late Stanley and Elsie (Gillis) Chute. Gordon was heavily involved with many aspects of the local community. He was a veteran member with 35 years of service in the Margaretsville & District Volunteer Fire Department, tending to the radio room. Gordon had played in the dart league, acted as bar tender and helped at many suppers and other events at the fire hall. He had been employed at Farmers Diary in Middleton, for 35 years as a maintenance operator. Gordon enjoyed time spent on his CB Radio while attending CB campouts with family and friends. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Surviving are his wife of 62 years, the former Barbara Nixon; son, Kevin Chute, East Margaretsville; daughter, Denise (Robert) Crouchman, Belleville, Ontario; grandchildren, Megan, Daniel (Tasha), Corissa (Eugene) and Dylan; great grandchildren, Jordynn, Ethan, Owen, Seth, Wyatt, Aubree, Silas and Ashley; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Ronald and Gene Chute; sisters, Kay Hannam, Dot Spurr and Edna McRae. There will be no visitation. Memorial service will take place at 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 5, in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., toll free 1-855-825-3448. Rev. Virginia DeAdder will officiate, with interment in North Kingston Cemetery. Reception will follow at Margaretsville Fire Hall. Family flowers only, donations in his memory may be made to Margaretsville & District Volunteer Fire Department or to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
