DOHERTY, Gordon Robert ~ Age 89, of Middleton, Annapolis Co., passed away on Tuesday, May 14, 2019, in the Veteran's Wing, at Soldier's Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Lawrencetown, he was a son of the late Robert and May (Misner) Doherty. Gordon served with the Canadian Guards (Canadian Army). He was a past member of the Valley I.O.O.F. Lodge, No. 153, Lawrencetown, and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No.1, Middleton. He enjoyed knitting wool socks. He is survived by sisters, Christine Brown, Windsor; Shirley Roy, Sudbury, Ont.; brother, Robert "Bob" (Jean) Doherty, Lawrencetown; nephews, Guy, Michael and Danny Roy, Sudbury, Ont.; Steven Doherty, Lawrencetown; Scott Doherty, Sackville, N.B.; nieces, Judy (Steve) Baxter-Jones, Falmouth; Lindy, Sudbury, Ont. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Helen Publicover; sister, Evelyn Baxter. There will be no visitation. A graveside service will take place 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 22, 2019, in the Fairview Cemetery, Lawrencetown. Rev. Patty Beals officiating. Donations in his memory may be made to the Children's Wish Foundation of Canada, Fairview Cemetery or to Lawrencetown & District Volunteer Fire Department.
