Obituary

SILVER, Gordon Eugene "Gordie"~ age 73, of Round Hill, passed away suddenly on Sunday, November 4, 2018 at home. Born in Springfield, NS, he was the son of the late Wesley and Florence (Wile) Silver. Gordie trained as a cartographer and over the years was employed with the Provincial Government; Bowater Mersey and the County of Annapolis Assessment Division. He retired in 1996, but later moved to the County of Kings where he worked on mapping projects and from 2003 to 2016 he worked as a Title Searcher at TMC Law, Kentville. While living in Kings County, he was also a past member of New Minas Volunteer Fire Department. Gordie's family was the most important thing in his life and any time he spent with them brought him great joy. He loved music, which was also a big part of his life. He enjoyed travelling around singing and playing guitar and played with several music groups over the years, the last one being "Highway 10". He was also a great handyman and would freely tackle any kind of task. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 48 years, Terry (Whitman); daughters Natasha Silver, Plymouth, Michigan and Tia (Alexi) Silver Surette, Halifax; sister, Betty Engler, Dartmouth; beloved granddaughters, Hailey Silver, Olive Yu, Claire Surette and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Gordie was predeceased by his sister, Elmeda Pernette; brothers, Harvey Silver, Fred Silver and brother Chipman in infancy. A visitation will be held 4-6 pm, Friday, November 9, 2018 in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., 902-825-3448. A funeral service will be held 1 pm, Saturday, November 10 th in Springfield United Baptist Church with neighbours and good friends, Rev. Paul Jennings and Rev. Elisabeth Bachem-Jennings officiating, Interment will be in Springfield Cemetery with a reception for family and friends following in the church vestry. By request, family flowers only please. Donations in Gordie's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Springfield United Baptist Church or the IWK Health Centre Foundation.
