Obituary

After a very brave battle, Gregory Robert Fisher , age 59 of Garland, sadly passed away at home on Friday, August 24, 2018. Born on May 2, 1959 in Barrie, Ontario he was the son of Robert E. and Mary (Hirtle) Fisher, who eventually relocated to Waterville, NS, the place they now call home. After attending Central Kings High School, Greg joined the Canadian Armed Forces before beginning his 31 years of dedicated service to Canada Post. Greg's passion for animals took him to the Valley Coon and Cat Hound Club where he won many championships. As an avid outdoors man, Greg spent his time in the woods hunting, fishing, trapping and spending time with friends and family at his beloved camp. He had a passion for gardening and an act for teaching. Greg will be missed for his honesty, his sense of humor and forever for his wit: "So much to do, so little time." Besides his parents, Greg is survived by  his loving wife Bonnie (MacAskill) Fisher; step-daughters, Megan Best (Meghan Bremner); Jessie (Matthew) Fraser; Kelsey Best (Jonathan Bowen); grandchildren, Brielle, Liston and Alexander Fraser; sisters, Robyn (Pete) Henderson; Krista Fisher (Andrew Kunz) and nephew William Henderson (Rachel MacNeil). Greg was predeceased by grandparents, George and Frances Fisher; Nelson and Edith Hirtle. The family would like to thank the Valley Regional Hospital staff, the Oncology Departments at Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville and the QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax, the paramedics for their wonderful care, Palliative Care for their support and Dr. M. Thana. In keeping with Greg's wishes cremation has taken place. A small Celebration of Life for close family and friends will be held at "The Camp" from 2-4 pm on Saturday, September 8, 2018. Donations in his memory may be made to the Oncology Departments of the Valley Regional Hospital or the QEII Health Sciences Centre. As Greg would always say, "It'll be okay." Arrangements have been entrusted to Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., 902-825-3448. Online guestbook may be signed by visiting: www.middletonfuneralhome.com
