Obituary

Hatt, Gregory Allen- 77, of Torbrook Mines, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2024 at home, surrounded by family. Greg was born in Berwick on February 4, 1947. He was the son of the late Allen and Helen (Barteaux) Hatt. Greg was employed by the CBC in Toronto after completing studies at Devry Technical College. After a decision to return to Nova Scotia, he then studied stationary engineering at George Brown College in Toronto, returning to Nova Scotia in 1978. Greg was employed by Kings Regional Rehabilitation Centre until his retirement. Greg was well known in his community, always with a warm greeting and a kind word. He was always ready and willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. Greg is survived by his wife of 49 years, Donna (Parks) Hatt; daughters, Colleen (Greg Naugle), Bedford; Megan (Philip Freymond), Bloomington; special grandson, Benjamin Naugle; sister, Pamela (James) Stavropoulos, Niagara Falls; sister-in-law, Eleanor (Ellsworth) Hatt, Port Colbourne; aunt, Kathleen (Acker) Barteaux, Kingston; several cousins, nieces, and nephews. Besides his parents, Greg was predeceased by brother Ronald Hatt; sisters Debbie and Coleen Hatt; niece, Wendy Hatt. Greg will also be missed by his constant companion, fur baby, Shadow. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation or funeral by request. The family wishes to thank the Victorian Order of Nurses for their care and compassion, as well as the palliative care team. A special and heartfelt thank you to our neighbours for their kindness and never-ending support. Donations in Greg's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Multiple Sclerosis Canada.
