Obituary

LUTZ (Parsons), H. Joyce ~ Age 85, of Aylesford, Kings Co., passed away on Tuesday April 30th, 2024, exactly where she wanted to be – in her home, with family at her side. Joyce was born in St. Anthony, NL, and raised in Hampden, White Bay, NL. At the young age of 16, Joyce along with her older sister, Marina Grace, headed for Toronto seeking their fortune. Joyce got her first job working at the Bank of Commerce, a job she was proud of obtaining on her own. It was Toronto, where she met her husband, her one and only love of 51 years. She often spoke of Ron whistling out to her from the gas station where he was employed as she walked by on her way to work. She changed her walking route to avoid his attention, yet Ron persisted and won her over. They made a life together, raising their three children. After 25 years in the suburbs of Toronto, they moved to Nova Scotia and built their forever home on Morden Road, beside Ron's parents' home.

Joyce ended her working career at Scotiabank, at the age of 58. She was happy to move on to other passions such as volunteering her time at the Beehive Adult Service Centre in Aylesford, camping with Ron, gardening, and later caring for her grandchildren. People often said Joyce had the best-looking garden on the Morden Road. She and Ron also enjoyed spending time with their friends. Joyce recently went through old photos reminiscing about times spent with bank colleagues and their spouses, dances at the Lions Hall, get togethers at George and Donna's camp, and camping all over the Atlantic provinces, including trips to their beloved Newfoundland.

Joyce was proud of what she accomplished since the passing of her dear Ron. She could manage the costs and physical labour required of her property and she did so with pride. She could work circles around most. Joyce not only split and piled her own wood, but she also helped with Diane and Greg's, as well. Last summer she worked to maintain three gardens, her own (which she grumbled that it was the first time her garden had failed due to all the rain), and also her daughter's and granddaughter's. She was a master weeder as well as potato planter and digger. Joyce's last big project was helping her granddaughter, Grace, clean, paint, and refresh her new to her home.

Joyce was forever grateful for the visit she had with her grandchildren, Shane and Sabrina, who came this past winter from miles away to give their love and quality time; as well as her sister Grace and daughter Cindy, who alongside Diane, assisted with providing Joyce the most compassionate and loving care.

She will be sadly missed by Jack, her favourite Berner, who she drove daily to provide him with a beef patty breakfast and walk around the yard.

Surviving are daughters, Cindy (Raymond) Marshall, Vittora, Ontario; Diane (Greg) Parker, East Kingston; grandchildren, Shane (Alana), Sabrina (Curtis), Grace (Oakley), Madalyn (Benson); Stephanie (Stephen), Caitlyn (Stevely) and Ryan (Jessica); great grandson, Adam; sisters, Grace Anderson, Roanoke, Virginia; Edith "Edie" McInnis, Orlando, Florida; Norma Senior, Cornerbrook, Newfoundland; several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Ronald G. Lutz; son, Brian Lutz; sisters, Vivian in infancy; Kaye Wells and Madelyn Dove; brothers, Willis, Wesley and Hughie Parsons.

There will be no visitation. All are welcome to attend her memorial service that will take place at 2 p.m., on Thursday, May 9, in Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., toll free 1-855-825-3448. Rev.
