MARTIN, Harlan Gardner- 83, Weston, Kings Co., passed away suddenly on Saturday, September 28, 2013, in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in South Stukely, Quebec, he was a son of the late Merrill C. and Blanche A. (Savage) Martin. Harlan began his family and career in the Eastern Townships of Quebec and began working in 1971 as the Business Manager at the Western Kings Memorial Hospital, Berwick, until his retirement in 1992. He was always quietly involved in his local communities, looking out for the interests of others and was looking for ways to manage things better. Harlan was a founding member of the Berwick & District Volunteer Fire Commission. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife of 56 years, Doris M. (Hanna) Martin; son, Craig (Anne-Marie Robichaud) Martin, Port Elgin, N.B.; daughters, Myra (Joe) Layton, Bonnyville, Alta.; Carol (Steve McKenzie) Martin, Petite Riviere; Jane (Tim) Johnston, Truro; grandchildren, Tianna (Shawn) Nicol, Jeremy Layton, all of Bonnyville, Alta.; Alanna Johnston, Truro; sister, Eileen Martin, nieces, Mary (John Chapman) Martin, all of Dunham, Que.; Susan Martin-Butt, Leicester, England. Visitation will take place from 7-9 p.m., Sunday, October 6, in Christ Anglican Church Hall, 238 Commercial St., Berwick. Funeral service will take place at 2 p.m., Monday, October 7, in Christ Anglican Church, 238 Commercial St., Berwick. Rev. Ruby Carter officiating, with burial in St. Mary's Anglican Church Cemetery, Auburn.
