Obituary

MacKenzie, Harold Francis "Butch" ~ Age 80, of Nictaux, Annapolis Co., N.S. passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, in Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, Middleton, with his wife at his side. Born on October 11, 1943, in Glace Bay, he was a son of the late H. Lester and Rita M. (Morrison) MacKenzie. Harold was well known for owning and operating Dart Shack, out of his own home for many years supplying folks in the area with dart supplies. He has been employed as a Lab Technologist, working in hospitals in Sydney, Amherst and Middleton, from where he retired. Harold then sold lab supplies around the Atlantic provinces. He had been an associate member of Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 98, Kingston.  Harold and Lynne were able to go on many trips and really enjoyed Scotland, Switzerland, Iceland and several to the United States. He enjoyed sports and time spent playing hockey, baseball and bowling. Harold was affectionately known as Butch to his family and closest friends. Surviving are his wife of 40 years, the former Lynne Pangborn; brothers, Jim (Linda), Ontario; Murdock (Marlene), Glace Bay; Paul (Amy), Lloydminster, Sask.; Gerry (Susan), Kanata, Ont.; sister-in-law, Ann, Glace Bay; brothers-in-law, David (Cathy), London, Ont.; Robert (Debbie), Ottawa, Ont.; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Wayne; brother-in-law, Brant. There will be no visitation or service, with a private interment at a later date. Donations in his memory may be made to Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia. Arrangements have been entrusted to Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, 1-855-825-3448.
