PHINNEY, Harold Covell - age 89 of Melvern Square passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 surrounded by his family. Born in Spa Springs, he was the son of the Late Harry and Gladys (Bowlby) Phinney. Harold worked as an auto mechanic, working at various garages throughout the valley. He retired from Evangeline Motors in 1992 at the age of 65. Harold loved the outdoors , working in the woods and especially enjoyed camping at Rissers Beach. Harold loved family and friends and was always willing to lend a hand fixing and tinkering with cars. Harold is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Beverley Joyce (Hopkins); daughter Tanya Phinney (Gary Smith) and their son Dylan Smith of Yarmouth; sons Harry (Gina) Phinney and their children Benjamin and Brianna of Bridgewater and Kevin (Suzanne) Phinney and their children Kaitlyn and Courtney of Aylesford and also grandson of his late son Carl, Colin-Barry Phinney. In keeping with Harold's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 1PM, Friday, November 11, 2016 in Melvern Square United Baptist Church with Rev. Libby Amirault officiating. A private family interment will take place directly following the service in Church Grove Cemetery, Melvern Square after which the family will return to the church for a reception for family and friends.
