Obituary

WHITMAN, Harold Allister – 80 of Middleton, passed away at the Heart of The Valley Long Term Care facility in Middleton on Friday, November 26, 2016. Born in Bridgetown, he was the son of the late Harold and Emily (Brown) Whitman. For most of his life, Harold was a flooring installer and owner of Whitman Carpet Sales and Services and he also lobster fished out of Three Fathom Harbour. Harold enjoyed time spent at his cottage in Port George and in particular the early morning view from his picture window of lobster fisherman on the Bay of Fundy. He is survived by his wife the former, Wanda Hebb, Three Fathom Harbour; daughters, Judy Whitman, Minesville and Karen Whitman, Lower Sackville; sons David Whitman, Spa Springs and Kevin Whitman, Three Fathom Harbour; step-sons, George (Susan) Gallant, Lawrencetown, Halifax Co., Kenneth (Gayla) Gallant, Porter's Lake, Earl (Bonnie) Gallant, Three Fathom Harbour and Bruce (Brenda) Gallant, Aylesford; 10 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Harold was predeceased by his sister, Jean Whitman and brother-in-law, Hugh Doherty. Cremation has taken place. A private family graveside service will be held in the Whitman Cemetery, Lawrencetown. Harold's family would like to thank the staff of Heart of The Valley Long Term Care for the wonderful care they provided him over the last number of years. Donations in memory may be made to the Heart of The Valley Long Term Care Recreation Department or the Canadian Diabetes Association.
