WILLIAMS, Harold James – 88, of Greenwood. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Harold James Williams. Harold passed away suddenly on Tuesday, December 29, 2020, at home. Born in Point Edward, Cape Breton, on May 3, 1932, he was a son of the late Charles and Doreen (Edwards) Williams. Harold was no stranger to hard work, he worked at various jobs in Cape Breton and Ontario, including the Sidney Steel Plant, and running his own service station as a mechanic working on vehicles and heavy equipment. Harold joined the Army in 1954 and was posted to Germany for four years. He was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion for 59 years. Harold loved restoring motorcycles, tearing them apart, putting them back together and tearing them apart again until they were just right. Harold loved to fish the river banks of Cape Breton in the summer and the winter never held him back, he travelled that long drive to ice fish with his son-in-law, Stephen. Harold's favorite companion was his dog Sara, you could find them sitting in his big brown chair enjoying each other's company. Harold will be greatly missed by his family, his morning coffee group and all that knew him. Surviving are his wife, the former Barbara Ann Foster; daughters, Cindy (Stephen) Dean, Georgina (Ian) Stewart, both of Glace Bay; Wendy (Randy) Dumas, Eastern Passage; Ann Marie (Chris) Pippy, Cole Harbour; stepchildren, Roger (Ann) Keddy, Alberta; Barry (Crystal) Keddy, Auburn; Michelle (Brian) Keddy, Kingston; grandchildren, Nadene, Courteney, Kori, Stephanie, Britney, Christian, Callista, Kyle, Matthew and Justin; great grandchildren, Aliyah, Julia and Damian; brothers, Roland, Charles, Lawrence; sisters, Marion, Linda, and Kathleen. Besides his parents he was predeceased by brothers, Joseph, Norman and Raymond; sisters, Louise, Marie, Shirley and Barbara. A service in celebration of his life will take place in Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, toll free 1-855-825-3448, due to public gathering restrictions this will be by invitation only. A live webcast of the service will be available for viewing on the funeral home website on Saturday, January 9, at 1:55 p.m. AST, by selecting the "Live Stream" option at the top of the home page.
