Obituary

BURBIDGE, Harry William-79 passed away Sunday, September 25, 2011 at the MacArthur Unit KRRC, Waterville. Born in Middleton, June 4, 1932, he was a son of the late Harry Ruggles and Beatrice (Phinney) Burbidge of Brickton. Harry was an excellent diesel mechanic, working for Department of Transportation, Halifax; Stairs Son & Morrow, Halifax; Mack Trucks, Dartmouth; Department of Transportation, New Minas and retiring from Agriculture Canada, Kentville. Harry was a member of St. Paul's AYPA, Halifax; taught Sunday school, was a member of the church council and a faithful member of Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Middleton. He was a member of New Minas Lions Club, life member of Lawrencetown Lions Club and a member of St. Joseph's Men's Club. Harry loved people and nature, the clouds, animals and the woods. He is survived by his wife of almost 58 years Isobel (Owen); sons, Gerald (Elizabeth), Canaan, Kings Co.; Larry ( Diane), New Minas; daughters, Judy (John) Pitkin, Mississauga, ON; Christy Burbidge-Boyd, Lacombe, AB; Maryann Burbidge, Halifax; sisters; Ethel Burbidge, Brickton; Florence Blanchard, Chester Basin; Jean Wells, Hamilton, ON; grandchildren; Paul (Carrie) Burbidge, Whitehorse, YK; Andrea (Dave) Shaffner, Canning, Kings Co.; Heather Burbidge, Thompson, MB; Jennifer Pitkin, Toronto; Joanne Pitkin, Ottawa; Darcy (Jenny) Boyd; Red Deer, AB; Mitchell Burbidge, New Minas and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters, Mary Burbidge and Myrtle Zwicker and son-in-law, Stephen Boyd. Many thanks to the staff at MacArthur Unit, KRRC Waterville for making Harry's time with them a happy time by their love and excellent care. God bless you all. Visitation will be held 7:00 to 9:00PM, Wednesday, September 28, 2011 in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, (902) 825-3448. The funeral service will be held 2:00PM Thursday, September 29, 2011 in Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Middleton, Canon Ed Vaughan officiating. Interment will be in Holy Trinity Anglican Cemetery, Middleton. By request, family flowers only.
