Obituary

RAND, Harry Douglas – Age 75, of Morden, Kings Co., it is with heavy hearts that the family announces his passing in Shannex Orchard Court, Kentville, on Monday, January 21, 2019, surrounded by his loving family. Harry was survived by his wife, Mona (Hamilton) Rand; stepson, Gregory (Belinda) Hamilton; stepdaughters, Nadine (John) Stevens and Natalie (Fran) Gosselin; step granddaughters, Jessica (Larry) and Victoria (Vance); step grandsons, Michael (Jeanette), Jeremy (Kelly), Kenneth, and Adam; 10 step great grandchildren; his first wife, Nancy (Brian) Greig; sons, Bruce (Ann) and Ian (Ana); grandchildren, Sean (Kelsi), Meghan, Monica, Collin, Brittany (Mike), Harrison, Stephanie, Jillian; four great grandchildren; sister, Carol (Garth) Brennan; stepbrothers, Chris (Frieda) Perry and Peter (Lee) Perry. He was predeceased by his father, Douglas Rand; mother and stepfather, Bertha and Leonard Perry; son, Stephen Rand, step grandson, David Hamilton. Harry's professional life was vast and successful. After graduating from Eastern Ontario Institute of Technology (now Ryerson University) he enjoyed many professional successes and accomplishments from working at Dupont in Kingston, Ontario, becoming President of the Atlantic Building Supply Dealers Association, and eventually running a successful business for close to 20 years with his wife, Mona. His happiest years were spent after retirement when he moved back to the shores of the Bay of Fundy where he and Mona spent time feeding the hummingbirds, entertaining family and friends, watching baseball and curling on TV, and absorbing all the worldly news he could. Harry was known to all as an avid fisherman who was always out on April 1 st whether snow or sunshine, bites or no bites. He enjoyed travelling and especially his recent Winters spent in Florida. Harry was a member and past Master of Harmony Lodge No. 52 A.F. & A.M., a member of the Mayflower Chapter No. 2, Order of the Eastern Star, and a member of the Aylesford United Church. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. His family would like to express their appreciation for their love and gentle care of the Shannex Orchard Court staff who treated them all like family. An Order of the Eastern Star Tribute will take place at 6 p.m., Masonic Tribute at 6:30 p.m., followed by visitation from 7-9 p.m., all Thursday, January 24, in Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, toll free 1-855-825-3448. Memorial service will take place at 2 p.m., Saturday, January 26, in Aylesford United Church, 2414 Hwy No. 1, Aylesford, with Rev. John Moses officiating. A reception will follow in Morden Community Centre. Interment will take place in Aylesford Union Cemetery at a later date. Donations in his memory may be made to Morden Community Association.
