Obituary

LONERGAN, Hartley St. Clair - age 88, of Millville, passed away on March 6, 2016 in the South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Lake Paul, he was the son of the late Peter St. Clair and Hazel Catherine (Lutz) Lonergan. After losing his mother at a very young age, he was taken in and raised by Cousin Annie (Norman) Keddy in Millville. Hartley became a master carpenter building homes throughout the Annapolis Valley. He lived in Millville most of his life where he married and raised his own family. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was especially thrilled when he became a great-grandfather to Madelyn. He was our hero. He was always there for family and friends and always anxious to help in any way he could. He had a wonderful sense of humour; and, nothing made him happier than bringing a smile to someone's face, or making them laugh hysterically by telling one of his stories or jokes. In his later years, Hartley spent many happy hours with friends and family pursuing his passions of playing darts and golfing on the courses throughout the valley. As a young man he loved to sing and play guitar; so, it came as no surprise when he went into Hillside Pines Nursing Home, where he was always up front singing along with the music groups that came to entertain. Hartley is survived by daughter, Sandra (Lee) Obritsch; grandsons, Christopher (Angelina) Obritsch and Andrew Obritsch; great-grandaughter, Madelyn Obritsch; brother, Leroy (Frances) Lonergan; brother-in-law, Keith (Jean) Ramey; sisters-in-law, Joyce Beattie and Pearl Keddy; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by wife, Pearl Theresa (Ramey) Lonergan; son, Ashley Lonergan; foster brother, John Keddy and brother-in-law, James Beattie. Visitation will take place at the Morristown Community Centre on Wednesday, March 9 from 5 - 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the Morristown Baptist Church, 6557 Aylesford Rd., Morristown on Thursday, March 10, at 2:00 p.m. Rev.
