Obituary

LIGHTFOOT (Baltzer), Hazel Evelyn - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother Hazel Evelyn Lightfoot, age 103, on July 30, 2016 at Dykeland Lodge, Windsor, NS with family at her side. Born in Douglasville, NS on December 6, 1912 she was the daughter of the late Orlando and Verna (McNayr) Baltzer. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Laurie (Dick) Lightfoot of 64 years and daughter Audrey Lightfoot, brothers Earl and Everett Baltzer and son-in-laws John Giffin, Garnet Parker, Jim Fleming and Larry Neily. Hazel is survived by daughters Maxine Giffin, Dianne Parker, Zelma Davidson (Jim) and Lorie Neily Saulnier (Dave). Grandchildren Michael, Debbie, Cheryl, Steven and Tracey Giffin, Carol Lee, Bob and Greg Giffin, Don and Derek Fleming, Jessica, Jeremy and Alicia Neily, 27 great grandchildren, 18 great great grandchildren and nephews John and Gordon Baltzer. Throughout her life she was dedicated to her children and grandchildren supporting them unconditionally with love and pride. Hazel was devoted wife, mother, grandmother and a volunteer in her community. She was an avid gardener and passionate about quilting, painting and knitting. Hazel was a lady of great talent who throughout her life created beautiful gifts for family. She kept her keen mind and instant recall of current events and family milestones to the moment of her death. She was a member of the Nictaux Baptist Church and the Nictaux Hospital Auxiliary. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., (902) 825 3448, with the service to be held on Thursday, August 4th at 11 am, followed immediately by Interment in Pine Grove Cemetery, Middleton. A reception will be held at the Nictaux Christian Family Centre, Nictaux. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to Nova Scotia Chapter of the Children's Wish Foundation and CNIB of Nova Scotia or charity of choice.
