Obituary

Bent, Heather Leotamae – Age 71 of Burlington, Kings Co., passed away Tuesday, May 9, 2023, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Middleton, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Iva (Wentzell) Nichols. Heather was a hairdresser for many years, a house cleaner for an estate by the bay. She also worked in food service for Grand View Manor. Heather was involved in organizing jam sessions and enjoyed the music events very much. She loved making wreaths, pickling & quilting and if she knew of you having a baby, you'd have one of her handmade quilts, a dying art as she would say. Her passion for cooking was passed on with recipe books to John & her grandchildren. She taught quilting and wreath making this winter, we hope to make her proud. She was a wonderful cook and loved having her family home for a big meal with special desserts. She always had the table set with meat and potatoes for Garnie at 5pm or midnight, whenever he was back from trucking. Heather had tons of heartache for the loss of her sons Trevor and Jason, and was the proudest supporter of John's accomplishments, she will be extremely missed. Heather loved her bulldogs and will be especially missed by her beloved dog, Ginger. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Heather is survived by her loving husband, Garnet F. Keddy, Burlington; son, John (Trish), Berwick; grandchildren, Kyle, Keaton, Shauna-Lynn, Jeremy, Nicholas, Madison and Brooke, great grandchildren, Daxon and Rana; brother, Byron Nichols, Middleton; niece, Holly Cooper, Nfld. Besides her parents, Heather was predeceased by her sons, Trevor and Jason Bent; brother, Sheldon Nichols. Cremation has taken place. Interment will take place in Nictaux Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., toll free: 1-855-825-3448. Donations in Heather's memory may be made to Lung Association, Heart & Stroke Foundation, Mental Health Association or SPCA.
