DEMERS, Heather Elizabeth –age 61, of Greenwood Square, passed away on May 6, 2016 at home in Greenwood Square. Born in Halifax , she was raised by her grandparents, the late Norman and Viola ( Jefferson ) Crowe. Heather was a member and served on the executive committees of various African Violet Societies in North America and acted as a judge in many competitions. Thru these little plants she made long lasting friendships wherever she went. Heather was a very kind and generous soul who never gave a second thought about helping friends in need. She likes to say, she was happiest when everyone around her were happy. Heather fought a courageous battle with cancer over the years, but never once complained about her condition, she was more worried about her love ones than herself. Her spirit is alive in the numerous African violets she gave to countless friends around the world. She is survived by her husband, Robert; sons, Timothy Norris (Rachel Ann Clark), Hamilton, ON and Matthew Eakins, Blue Rocks, Lunenburg County, NS; half-sister, Christine (Blake) Morse, Whitehead, NB. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 14, 2016 in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street (902) 825-3448 with Padre Louis Mathieu from 14 Wing Greenwood officiating.
