Obituary

Heather Jean Rushton, 73 of Middleton, Nova Scotia passed away Saturday May 20, 2017 at Soldiers Memorial Hospital. She was born in Middleton to parents Wallace Reginald Berringer and Wilda Jean (Hoffman). Heather was an active member of the community throughout her life, working as a volunteer for the Middleton fireflies, bowling with the women's league and teaching Sunday school at the Emmanuel Congregational Christian Church. Although her main vocation was hairdressing, later in life she attended NSCC and completed a retail merchandising course. Well known in the community, she liked to walk daily and would always take the time to stop and talk to everyone she crossed paths with. Heather was extremely loving, caring and supportive. She was always there for her children, grandchildren, siblings and friends.  She also acted as the primary caregiver for both her parents in their later years.  She is survived by her sister Sharon Berringer (Ron) of Tumbler Ridge BC, her brother Reginald Dane Berringer (Cheryl) of Lawrencetown, NS, sons Neil Rushton (SJ) of Victoria BC, Troy Rushton, Tumbler Ridge, BC, granddaughter Brittni Bickford of Berwick Nova Scotia, and great grandchildren Bently and MacKenzie of Berwick. Heather was predeceased by her former husband, George Rushton. In keeping with Heather's wishes, cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be held Wednesday, May 24 at 2pm at the Emmanuel Congregational Christian Church in Middleton with Rev. Sweis Ubels officiating. A reception for family and friends will follow the service. Interment will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery in Middleton. Donations in memory can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of choice. Family flowers only. Arrangements have been entrusted to Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., (902) 825-3448.
