HAMILTON, Helen "Charlene" passed away on Wednesday, January 25 th , 2017 in Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Middleton, after a lengthy illness. Born in Middleton, she was a daughter of Myrtle (Reagh) Chute and the late Charles E. Chute of Victoria Vale. Charlene was a very kind and generous person who loved the young and old alike. She was very artistic and there was no craft she couldn't make. She had a passion for gardening and ran Planter's Hut for many years. Charlene loved animals, especially her cats, and volunteered with CAPS. She loved singing and playing her guitar and mandolin at the many jam sessions in the valley. Charlene is survived by her common-law spouse, Max Den Haan, Spa Spring, sons; Chris (Tammy Moore) Hamilton, Middleton, Derek Hamilton, Victoria Vale, her twin sister Cathleen (Butch) Veinot, New Albany, Marion (Carl) Banks, New Germany, Suzanne (Ron) Brinton, Wilmot and Molly (Donnie) McLaughlin, Lequille, brother Danny Chute (Leona Thorpe) Port Lorne, granddaughter; River Sue Hamilton, grandson; Dylan Hamilton and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father Charles, husband Wayne Hamilton and infant daughter Stella Cathleen. Charlene will be deeply missed by her family and especially by her twin, best friend and caregiver, Cathleen. Thanks to her nieces Brenda, Tanya and Angela Veinot for their love and care – they thought of her as their "other Mother". Her sons, Chris and Derek will forever miss her companionship, love and unwavering support. The family would like to thank the staff at Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Cremation has taken place. There will be visitation from 7 pm – 9pm Sunday, January 29, 2017 at the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St. 902-825-3448 where a Memorial Service will be held 2:00 pm Monday, January 30 th with Pastor Heather Pearl Gillis officiating. A reception will follow the service. Donations in her memory can be made to Mid Valley Palliative Care or CAPS (Companion Animal Protection Society).
