MORRISON, Hilda Olive - Age 92, of Wilmot NS passed away August 19, 2017, in Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, Middleton, after a brief illness. Born in Kingston NS, Hilda was the eldest child of the late Frederick and Olive (Balcom) Fitch. Hilda left Nova Scotia for Ottawa ON in 1946 seeking employment. She met her husband in Ottawa while they were both serving in the RCAF Reserves. She retired from the public service in 1990. She and Ed enjoyed two years of retirement attending Shriners events until his death in 1992. Hilda was an avid flower and vegetable gardener, orchids and roses being her favorites. Hilda loved listening to classical music especially opera. She enjoyed many bus tours to New York's Metropolitan Opera and attending Music Appreciation classes. Hilda is survived by her daughter Anne Morrison, Wilmot NS, her sister Thelma Wright, Calgary AB and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins in Ontario, Alberta and Nova Scotia. She was predeceased by her husband Ed, her parents, her sister Doris Fitzgerald Fuller, and her brother Eugene Fitch. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life service will be held Tuesday August 29th at 3 pm in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, (902) 825-3448 with Rev. Robin McCoombs officiating. A reception for family and friends will follow the service. Interment will be held at a later date at the Pinecrest Cemetery, Ottawa ON. Many thanks to all the staff at Soldiers' Memorial Hospital for their care and attention during Hilda's final weeks. Thanks also, to the many VON caregivers who made it possible for Hilda to remain in her own home as long as possible and to the VON Annapolis Valley Adult Day Program that Hilda attended from 2014 until just a few weeks ago. Donations in Hilda's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Canada, the VON Annapolis Branch or the VON Annapolis Valley Adult Day Program or a charity of choice.
