SMITH, Hilda Madeline ~ 98 of Middleton, NS, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 9, 2025, in Grand View Manor, Berwick, NS surrounded by her loving family. Hilda was born in Gibson Woods, NS, on September 30, 1927, to parents, Mose and Sadie (Francis) Stevenson.

Hilda was the matriarch of the family. She was a wonderful mom, homemaker and community member. She ran the Sharing Room at the Middleton Baptist Church for many years. She was also a long-time member of North Street Ladies Auxiliary and recently received a certificate for 50 years of service just before her passing.

Hilda is survived by daughters, Gail, Middleton; Beth, Halifax; sons, Randy (Cheryl), Middleton; Scott (Melody), Paradise; grandchildren, Nychelle, Shon (Yvette), Bradley (Charlene), Sydney, Mason, Mattie (Brandon); seven great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Hilda was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Besides her parents, Hilda was predeceased by her husband, John; siblings, Myrtle, Olive, Winnifred, Lenore, Robert, and Arthur.

The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the nursing staff on the Franey Unit at Grand View Manor for the wonderful care they gave our Mom.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, November 15, 2025, in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, toll free 1-855-825-3448 with Rev. Dr. Danny Smith officiating. A reception will follow the service, and interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Middleton.

For those unable to attend, the service will be livestreamed and available to watch beginning at 1:55 p.m. by selecting the 'livestream' option on the funeral home website.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Hilda may be made to North Street Chapel or Annapolis Valley Frugal Moms Society.
