Armstrong, Holden “Holly”– 88, of Greenwood, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 7, 2026 in Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Rouyn Noranda, Quebec, he was a son of the late Jack and Elizabeth (Leitch) Armstrong. Holly, as he was known, worked for Canada Post as a mail carrier in Oakville, ON before moving to Margaretville where he joined the Fire Department. After moving to Kingston, he began working for O.H. Armstrong doing machinery maintenance. In Kingston, he joined the Kingston Village Commission and served three terms. He led Kingston as Recreation Director during some very successful years in the Apple Blossom Festival. Holly had a keen interest in local politics and was a steadfast fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs. He and Elaine often enjoyed a drive to Margaretville for an ice cream in the salt air. Surviving is his wife of 57 years, Elaine (Downing), Greenwood; his three daughters, Kathy, Barbara, and Leanne; five grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and brother, Robert, Ontario. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by seven brothers and three sisters. In keeping with Holly’s wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be no service at this time. Donations in Holden's memory may be made to the Margaretville Fire Department or the Canadian Cancer Society.
