Howard Lawrence
Turner
March 6, 1930 – July 5, 2022
Turner, Howard Lawrence – Age 92 of Auburn, Kings Co., passed away Tuesday, July 5, 2022 in Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Loving Father and Husband. Howard is survived by his daughter, Lindsey (David) Kozack; son, Andrew (Karen) Turner; his 3 loving grandchildren, Hannah Kozack, Mitchell Kozack and Nolan Turner.
Rising from his Prairie roots in MacGregor Manitoba in the "dirty thirties", Howard began his working years as a telegrapher with the C.P.R. in 1953.He then joined the R.C.A.F earning his wings as a Navigator. After retiring from the military Howard entered his final career as a popular and caring teacher at N.S Community College where he taught Business.
Howard enjoyed a three-fold avocation: he was a voracious reader, devouring anything related to politics and WWII; he was a History buff graduating from Acadia in 1973 with a BA/B.Ed and Howard was an avid traveler, touring far and wide with Lynda, his wife of 6 decades by his side. They literally toured the world together! A passion that inspired his son Andrew who follows in his footsteps with annual trips throughout the globe.
After Howard retired from the Canadian Armed Forces, they were seldom apart. Theirs was a love affair that will always be remembered by the Fragrant Friday Flowers he brought to Lynda each week. When money was tight, he would pick wildflowers, from lupins to dandelions. They also attended cooking classes, live theatre, symphony concerts and loved to entertain friends with dinner parties.
They were Team Turner for almost 60 years.
As his friends and family say "Goodnight" to Howard he will be lovingly remembered as a charming, caring, delightful man who left everyone he met with a great feeling. What a special gift. You will be missed Howard
