Obituary

GRAVES, Hugh Robert "Bob" - Our lives are a little dimmer and there is a hole in our hearts. Our beloved father, grampy, husband and brother passed on Friday September 11th, 2020 at Soldiers' Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. Bob, age 79, of Wilmot, NS was the bright light in our lives. The family jokester and storyteller, he always had a sparkle in his eye and pity  you if his teasing radar locked onto you. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Hugh and Margaret (Ross) Graves. A 20 year veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces (army), he went on to have a long career with the Registry of Motor Vehicles, going into schools teaching bus safety to children and road safety to teens. In summer he filled in teaching defensive driver courses and giving road tests to new, and not so new drivers, a source for many stories.Surviving are his wife Judy (Burgoyne); daughters, Shelli Killen (Gary); Pam Levy (Todd) and step-daughter, Marie Barkhouse (Jeff); former wife, Valerie Brent; grandchildren, Bethany Killen, Matthew Killen (Sheena), Jason Killen (Jennifer), Graham Killen (Jessica) and Reiley Killen; great grandchildren, Madison, Ronan, Adrienne, Bently, Emmett and Dawson; sisters, Aileen Matuk (Nehad); Helen Vinckers (Bob); Carol Selig (Barry) and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brother, Richard and sisters, Margaret, Lila, Shirley and Gloria. Cremation has taken place. In keeping with Hugh's wishes, there will be no funeral. Arrangements have been entrusted to Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St. toll free 1-855-825-3448. Online guestbook may be signed by visiting: www.middletonfuneralhome.com
