Obituary

RICHARD, Ian George ~ Age 71, Kingston, Kings Co., passed away suddenly on Monday, June 27, 2022, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born on February 18, 1951, in Rexton, N.B., he was a son of the late Patrick J. Richard, of Rexton, N.B. and Sheila (Wingfield) Richard, of England. George served in the Canadian Armed Forces as a Medic, retiring as a Sergeant and was later in the reserves with more than 20 years of combined service. He was an avid Montreal Canadiens fan and was very proud of his Acadian heritage. George loved bright colours, enjoyed time spent cleaning and caring for his home and pool and was known as "Mr. Neat & Tidy". Left to mourn his passing are his wife of 44 years, the former M. Regina P. Dunne; son, Robert Roy (Tabitha Louise Riley), Kingston; daughter, Amanda Richard (Doug Acker), Kentville; brothers, Kevin, James "Jimmy" and John "Johnny" Richard, all of Rexton, N.B.; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and all members of the Dunne family. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Patsy Richard. There will be no visitation or funeral service. A private interment will take place at a later date in North Kingston Cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to Heart & Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or Canadian Cancer Society. The family would like to say a special thank you to the Medical unit staff at both Soldiers' Memorial and Valley Regional Hospitals and especially to Dr. Klippenstine.
