Obituary

ROSS, Irene Harriet - 94yrs, of Hampton, NS passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2014 in Mountain Lea Lodge, Bridgetown. Born in Meadowvale she was a daughter of the late Inglis and Edith (Petit) Welton. Irene was a retired school teacher after many years and was an avid reader. She enjoyed her crossword puzzles and cryptoquote and loved walking. Irene was the treasurer of the Hampton United Baptist Church for over 45 years. She loved animals, especially cats and dogs. Her family was always her first love and her grandchildren were her pride and joy. Irene was well- known for her appreciation of life, her wisdom and her ready wit. She enjoyed a good laugh. She is survived by her daughters, Edith (Brian) Murray, Belleisle, NS; Carol (Cecil) Dexter, Great Village, NS; her sons, Frederick (Joan) Ross, Port Royal; Robin Ross, Annapolis Royal; Arnold (Myleta) Ross, Margaretsville; her grandchildren, Carrie Murray, Heather Murray, Trevor Dexter, Daphne Sleigh, Andrew Ross, Karen Thomas, Martin Ross, Amy Ross and six great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband George; sister Minnie and brothers Ernest and Willard. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 2:00PM Tuesday, February 4, 2014 in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., (902) 825-3448 with Pastor Heather Pearle-Gillis officiating. A reception for family and friends will follow the service. Donations in memory of Irene may be made to the Hampton United Baptist Church or charity of choice.
