NICHOLS, Iva Ernestine – age 87, Middleton, Annapolis Co., passed away on Wednesday, December 16, 2015, in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Yarmouth on March 7, 1928, she was a daughter of the late Evelyn Hurlbert, and was the adopted daughter Robbey and Mabel Wentzell, Faulkland Ridge. Iva was a nurse in the early years at the old Soldier's Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Later, she and her husband owned and operated Nichols Grocery, Nictaux for several years. Iva enjoyed her cottage and loved her beloved love bird, Baby. Surviving are a daughter, Heather (Garnet Keddy) Bent, Burlington, Kings Co., sons, Byron, Middleton; Sheldon (Terry), Nictaux; grandchildren, Holly (Tony), Jason (Alicia), John (Patricia); great-grandchildren, Alexis, Sarah, Kyle, Keaton, Brooke, Madyson, Nicholas, Shauna-Lynn, Jeremy. Besides her mother and adopted parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Henry B. Nichols grandson, Trevor A. Bent. Cremation has taken place and a private interment will take place at a later date. Donations in her memory may be made to Nictaux & District Volunteer Fire Department or to the Grand View Manor, Berwick.
