PIGGOTT, James Reginald "Reg" – 73 of Lawrencetown, Annapolis County, passed away Saturday, May 28, 2016, in Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Middleton, he was the son of the late William Reginald and Caroline Geneva (Dill) Piggott. Reg is survived by his wife the former Lise Poulin; daughter Caroline Urbach, Port Hope, Ont.; son Philip Piggott, Ottawa; sisters Peggy (Murray) Ramey, Clarence, Muffy (Ray) Baltzer, Wolfville, and Susan Stevenson, Bridgetown; grandchildren Madeleine, Norah, William and Michael. Reg grew up in Paradise and attended the Paradise School and Bridgetown High School. He joined the Air Force at 17 and served for a few years in Ontario and a few months in Saskatchewan. Upon his release, he returned to Ontario and worked in parts for a heavy equipment firm. After a few moves, he settled in London, Ontario, where he became parts and service manager for several years until his retirement in 2006. He moved back to Nova Scotia and settled in Lawrencetown. He joined the Royal Canadian Legion Branch in Lawrencetown where he was the driving force in obtaining several grants for improvements to the building. In 2011, he received an Annapolis County Volunteer Award for his service to the Legion. He is also a founding member of the Lawrencetown and Area Seniors Association, where he served as a director. In 2013, he joined the Farm Museum committee at the Annapolis Valley Exhibition. When the Museum moved into a new building in 2015, he put all his energy into setting it up and getting many new exhibits for display. He devoted countless hours to the Museum, which is now an integral part of the Exhibition. By request, cremation has taken place. A visitation and reception for family and friends will be held from 1 to 3 p.m., Tuesday, August 2 nd in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., (902) 825-3448. Interment will follow in the Paradise Cemetery. Donations in memory may be made to the Annapolis Valley Exhibition (Farm Museum) or The Lodge That Gives.
