Ward, James "Jim" Elmer – Age 86 of Bridgetown/ Clarence passed away Saturday, March 3, 2018 in Mountain Lea Lodge, Bridgetown. He was a son of the late Colin and Nola Ward. Jim was the last member of his immediate family. Leaving home, at the young age of 15, he hitch hiked to Ontario to find work. After working several jobs, Jim found full time employment at Canada Packers where he retired after more than 40 years of service in 1991. Jim had a great love for music and could play anything with strings, playing country music with different bands at Bars and Night clubs around Toronto and Oakville area. He also enjoyed camping with his family at his favorite campgrounds in Action, Ont. After his retirement, he returned to Nova Scotia making Clarence his home and enjoyed playing at local jam sessions and charity benefits. He had a love for animals, especially his cats, Sammy and Kit. Jim was known to be a very humble and kind hearted gentleman. Jim will be sadly missed by his daughter Debbie (Arthur) Crouse, Lloydminster, AB and her daughter Tanya (Joe) Adams, Virginia, USA; step-daughter Jo-Ann (Tim) McKay, Middleton; step –son Joseph Doherty, Hamilton, ON; several step-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephew and cousins. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Mary, sisters, Neta, Norma, Edna, Beatrice, Hazel, Leora, Veulah, brothers; Roland, Elderidge, Arthur, Aubrey, Leo and Harrison and step-son Robert. The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to all the staff at Mountain Lea Lodge for all their care and compassion shown to Jim. In keeping with Jim's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be a private graveside service, Sunday, March 11 at 3:00PM in the Nictaux Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Middleton Funeral Home 398 Main St. 902-825-3448. Donations in Jim's memory can be made to a Charity of Choice.
