GLOVER, James Arthur Garwood - It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved father, James Arthur Garwood Glover,81 of Greenwood, Kings Co, NS passed away suddenly Saturday, October 26, 2013 at Soldiers Memorial Hospital in Middleton. He was the son of John Arthur and Monica (Deloughery) deceased. He was educated in Ottawa and Eganville, Ont where he graduated in June of 1950. After a short 5 month stint in RAF Aircrew training he joined the RCN and went to HMCS Cornwallis in August 1951 and returned in January 1951 for a radio communicator course then to HMCS Magnificent for further training. In March of 1953 he volunteered for a tour of duty in the Korean War aboard HMCS Huron departing Halifax on 29 April 1953 and returning 13 March 1954. In April 1954 he married the love of his life Shirley Kelly who predeceased him in May of 1988. In May 1954 he was on the commissioning party for HMCS Penetang. In June 1954 he was drafted to Naval Radio Stn Albro Lake in Dartmouth where he finished his naval career on 19 August 1956. In November 1956 he joined the RCAF and following basic training was posted to MARCOM headquarters in Halifax. Next came a tour in Whitehorse with a 6 month side trip to Alert NWT after which came postings to Summerside PEI, Torbay and St John's NFLD, CCHQ in Ottawa ,Greenwood then a transfer to Trenton, Ont which was his last posting in 1976. In 1977 he was employed with Canada Post in Greenwood where he finally retired in 1995. He belonged to 107 Wing RCAFA Greenwood, NS, Royal Canadian Legion Br 098 Kingston, NS, Council 6297 Knights of Columbus Greenwood and FSNA Western Annapolis Valley Branch. He was a proud sponsor of World Vision and contributed much to many charities.He is survived by his 3 children, Margo (Richard) Wright, Comox, BC, Judy, Dartmouth, NS and James (Dina), Meadowvale, NS. Grandchildren Chelsey Glover Kingston, NS, Devan Glover Calgary, AB, Megan Glover also of Meadowvale and Tyler Wright Toronto, Ont, Great Grandchildren Bayleigh and Maddox, and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his wife he was predeceased by his brothers Guy, Toronto, Ont, John Victoria , BC and Daniel, Brockville Ont, his Mother In Law Marg Clark, Greenwood, NS and Brothers In Law Reginald Kelly, and Ted Kelly Brantford, Ont. Visitation will be held 7:00PM-9:00PM Wednesday, October 30, 2013 in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., (902) 825-3448 beginning with a Legion Tribute conducted by Kingston Branch No. 98. Funeral service will be held 11:00AM Thursday, October 31, 2013 in the Queen of Heaven Chapel, 14 Wing Greenwood with Father Jim McKay and Father Rory MacDonald officiating. Interment will be in the St. Lawrence Cemetery, Kingston. A reception for family and friends will follow at the Kingston Legion. By request, family flowers only.
