Henry Robar
May 26, 1940 – August 9, 2024
James Henry Robar ~ 1940-2024
Jimmy, 84 of Nictaux, formerly of Springfield, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2024 in Valley Regional Hospital with his family by his side. Born in North River to Rufus and Althea Robar on May 26, 1940. He was an honourary member of the Springfield and District Volunteer Fire Department and one of the founding members of the New Germany Lions Club. After 23 years, Jimmy retired from Michelin Canada in 1995 and enjoyed his many years of retirement. He became known as the "horse trader" as he was known to drive the countryside buying, selling and trading anything horse-related. After selling his last work horse, he bought his first antique car and went on to be a member of the Coastal Cruisers Car Club. After moving to Nictaux, he joined the Annapolis Valley Cruisers Car Club, making many great friends. He was known for his quick wit and humour, loved camping and spending time in the summer on the deck at his home away from home at Jeff's Hideaway campground, starting up a conversation with anyone passing by. He is survived by Gail, his wife of 54 years, sons James (Julie), Jeffrey (Julie), granddaughter Mali-Soleil and grandson Ty, who he loved dearly. Sisters Carolyn (Archie) Levy, Helen (Larry) Woodsworth, Beaulah (Eddie) Jollimore, brothers Mervin (Muriel) and Allister (Susan). Predeceased by brother Richard and sisters Juanita, Margaret and Vera. The family would like to give special thanks to all the doctors and nurses for the wonderful care Jimmy received over the last few months. In keeping with Jimmy's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 2:00PM Thursday, August 15, 2024 in Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., toll free 1-855-825-3448 with Pastor David Whynot officiating. A reception for family and friends will follow the service. Interment to follow in St. Peter's Cemetery, Durlings Lake, West Dalhousie. Donations in memory may be made to Valley Regional Hospital Foundation or charity of choice.
