MANTHORNE, James Robert ~ Age 76, of Kingston, Kings Co., passed away on Friday, July 28, 2023, in Halifax Infirmary, QEII, Halifax. Born on November 17, 1946, in Milton, Queens Co., he was the adopted son of Samuel and Ethel (McCoombes) Manthorne. James had served in the Canadian Armed Forces, with postings in Lahr and Baden Baden, Germany (where he met his wife), Shearwater and Greenwood. He loved going for drives in the car, trips to the shore and would takes pictures of scenery and animals. James enjoyed hunting and fishing as well as time spent with friends having coffee at A & W in Greenwood Mall. Surviving are his wife of 53 years, the former Rita A.R. Biller; daughter, Mary-Ann Manthorne; son, Markus (Danielle) Manthorne; grandchildren, Hayden and Tristan; step grandchildren, Larissa and Cody; brothers, Wayne, Michael and Albert; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sister, Donna Gay. All are welcome to attend a visitation for James from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Thursday evening in Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., toll free 1-855-825-3448. Cremation to follow and a private service will take place at a later date, with Rev.
