Obituary

James Leonard Spurr passed away in Middleton at the Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, Middleton, Nova Scotia on Sunday, July 15, 2018 at the age of 81 years. He was born on October 28, 1936 in Perott, Nova Scotia. He was the son of William and Nina Spurr and came from a large family. Jim joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1954, and had a thirty-three-year career that included postings to 4 Wing Cold Lake, Alberta; CFB Lahr, Germany and 14 Wing Greenwood, Nova Scotia. After his military service, he retired with his wife Carol, to Kingston, Nova Scotia where he worked at a variety of jobs until 1993. Jim loved working on cars and had a small car repair business while he was posted to Cold Lake. He also enjoyed listening to country music as well as watching baseball and hockey. He was predeceased by his sister Marion and brother Winston.  He is survived by his wife Carol and children Scott and Mary-Alice Spurr-MacKay as well as his brothers, Bill, Laurie and Henry. Cremation has taken place and a small interment service will be held at the Perotte St. Mark's Anglican church on Thursday, July 19 at 11:00 a.m.  Family and friends are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jim's memory can be made to the Diabetes Canada. Arrangements have been entrusted to Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St. 902-825-3448.
