LUTZ, Janet Mary – Age 81, of Berwick, Kings Co., N.S., passed away on her own terms on Thursday, September 11, 2025, surrounded by her family in Grand View Manor, Berwick, after a lengthy illness. Born on November 30, 1943, in Berwick, she was a daughter of the late Leslie E. and Lula B. (Loomer) Foster.
Janet had been employed at Berwick Bakery/Eastern Bakeries for many years, as did Allan. After her retirement, she worked for Moody Brothers, Forsythe Farm Market and Frenchys, every job was done to perfection. Janet enjoyed working at Frenchys, spending time with co-workers, where she was also a great shopper. She was an avid gardener with many flower gardens surrounding their home and had been a member of the Valley Garden Club.
A collection of cream and sugar sets filled the shelves in the basement along with Allan's Avon collection. She was a lover of antiques, especially cars and always waited for the new calendar with classic cars to arrive. The family all enjoyed her ability to bake, make or repair anything that required sewing or knitting.
Surviving are her sons, Robert "Bob" (Vicky) Richardson, Leduc, Alberta; Bruce Richardson, Waterville; grandsons, Matt (Jacque) and Adam Richardson; great grandchildren, Makayla, Abel, Paisleigh and Pacience; step daughter, Lisa (Craig) Landsburg, Berwick; step grandchildren, Cassie and Alexa; sisters, Ruth Foster (Ron Martin), Coldbrook; Norma Giffin, Berwick; sister-in-law, Glenda Foster, Grafton; many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by devoted companion of 47 years, Joseph "Allan" Doucette; brothers, Kenneth (Pat), Ronald (Marilyn) and Donald Foster; sister, Margaret Usher; first husband, Bert Richardson; second husband, Walter Lutz Jr.; stepson, David.
There will be no visitation. All are welcome to attend the graveside service for both Janet and Allan that will begin at 2:00 p.m., Monday, September 15, in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Brooklyn St., Somerset. Rev. Andrew Conrad officiating, with a reception to follow in Grafton Hall, 5350 Brooklyn St., Grafton. Family flowers only, donations in her memory may be made to Open Arms, Kentville, Berwick Food Bank or to your favourite charity
