McCabe, Janet "Jan"- Born January 21, 1942 passed away peacefully at Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, Middleton on March 20, 2024 at the age of 82. She longed to be with her Heavenly Father and praised Him till the very end. Jan was a woman of faith and could not be shaken. She loved her children and installed her values in them. While in England she had three children, Michael Baverstock, Paul Baverstock, and Lisa Baverstock. In 1980 she married Larry McCabe and moved to Canada. She was a foster mom for 25 years and adopted the last six children. Upon leaving England she lived in Valemount, BC, later moving to Agassiz, BC, Bridgetown, NS and finally in 2022 Kingston, NS. She was devoted to the Lord and had bible studies in her home for 40 years. She was also involved in prison ministry and sang in a church praise team. She was predeceased by her mother Nellie (Harding, Pilgram, Greenie) Long, father Harold Pilgram, and father of her children Michael Baverstock, all of Nottingham, England. Surviving are her husband, Larry McCabe of Kingston; and her sons and daughters, Michael Baverstock and Paul Baverstock both of Nottingham, England; Lisa Baverstock, Kingston; Tanner McCabe, Moncton; Kanaan McCabe, Halifax; Megan McCabe, Greenwood; Chelsea McCabe, Kentville; Dayson McCabe, New Minas; and Daniel McCabe, Kingston. We wish to thank all those who have been with her on this journey. A Graveside Service to celebrate her life will be held 2:00 pm on Monday, March 25, 2024 in North Kingston Cemetery. Rev. Sweis Ubels officiating. Donations in Jan's memory may be made to Emmanual Congregational Christian Church or The Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia. She is resting with her Lord.
