Obituary

NICHOLS, Janice Margaret ~ age 69 of Waterville, NS passed away on Saturday May 13, 2023 in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Middleton, she was a daughter of the late Phil and Margaret (Skinner) Nichols. Janice was a Continuing Care Assistant for over 25 years, having been employed with Grand View Manor, Berwick. She learned to play the piano at an early age and it soon became her greatest pleasure.  Playing at church functions including weddings and funerals became some of her most treasured memories. Janice loved working with children and was always involved in the Awana program at her church. Her summer vacations were spent teaching children the truths of God's Word and helping out with the music at Truth for Youth Camp. She enjoyed a variety of crafts. Her favourite pastime was cross stitching, creating large and small pieces of intricate work. She was also an avid collector of Precious Moments figurines. Janice loved her family dearly, especially her nieces and nephews of whom she was very proud. She is survived by her sister, Louise (Brian) Banks, Greenwood; sister-in-law, Carolynn Nichols, Howell, Michigan; brother, Graham (Judi) Nichols, Meadowvale, nieces, Stephanie (Dan) Berthier, Barrie, Ontario; Jennifer Banks, Greenwood; Sarah Banks (Justin Farnham), Hartford, Connecticut; Hannah Banks, Greenwood; Rebekah (Jason) Hensley, Commerce, Texas; Stephanie (Luc), Greenwood; Melanie (Mitchell), Greenwood Square; Tricia (Geoff), Nictaux; nephews, Andrew Banks (Regena Ash), Ottawa, Ontario; William Banks, Ottawa, Ontario; Ben (Rebecca) Nichols, Fowlerville, Michigan; Matt Nichols, Howell, Michigan; David (Amanda), Meadowvale; great nieces and great nephews, Madeleine, Emmaline and Etienne, all of Barrie, Ontario; Ylenia, Ottawa; Nicholas and Kimberly, both of Commerce, Texas; Mary and Leah, both of Fowlerville, Michigan; Hailey, Brycen, Hayden and Wyatt, Greenwood; Helena, Meadowvale; Mackenzie, Greenwood Square; Max, Nictaux. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Bruce Nichols, Howell, Michigan. Visitation will be held 6-8PM Friday May 19, 2023 in Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., (902) 825-3448 where funeral service will be held 2:00PM Saturday, May 20, 2023 with Rev. Warren Jones officiating, assisted by Rev. Robert Jones. Interment will be in Aylesford Union Cemetery. For those unable to attend the service a 'live streaming' of the service will be available beginning at 1:55 ADT on our website under the Live Stream option.
